Aspen, CO, November 30, 2009—Back by popular demand, the Aspen Institute is pleased to announce its third “Florence: Birthplace of the Modern World” seminar and public panel. Both the seminar and panel are open to the public. During the three morning seminar, world-acclaimed experts will focus on Michelangelo and his patrons, the Medici. Participants will experience, as well as examine and analyze, Michelangelo’s sweeping works of art, among the world’s most cherished gifts.


On Saturday December 12th, there will be a panel discussion from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Tickets are available for $20 at the Wheeler Opera House. The seminar and panel will feature the following moderators: Countess Simonetta Brandolini d’Adda founder and president of Friends of Florence dedicated to preserving the art and wonders of Florence; William Wallace, internationally recognized authority on Michelangelo, as the author or editor of five books; Bill Cook, author of five books on the Middle Ages and Renaissance; and Ross King author of several best-selling books on Renaissance, including his popular Michelangelo and the Pope’s Ceiling about the Sistine Chapel.
