The Aspen Institute Presents:
“Why Goethe? Why 1949? Why Aspen?”
In Honor of Wintersköl 2010
Aspen, CO, January 8, 2010 — Something ground-breaking happened in Aspen in the summer 1949. Even though there were very few hotel rooms, 2000 people came here. In honor of Wintersköl’s theme “Epic Steeps, Decades Deep” the Aspen Institute will present a multi-media presentation that will give new comers and old timers alike, a new understanding of the “big bang” that caused Aspen to become the unique spiritual, cultural, intellectual and recreational center that it is today.
Narrated by Steve Wickes, an Associate Director at the Aspen Institute, the dinner discussion will highlight the event that was featured on the cover of TIME magazine on July 11,1949.
The dinner discussion will take place from 6:00–8:00 pm. Tickets are $50 for Aspen Institute and ACRA members and $60 for non-members. The dinner ticket includes a three-course dinner and a glass of wine. To register, please call Beth Slater at the Aspen Institute @ 970-544-7914
