Washington, DC, July 18, 2022 – The Aspen Institute welcomes Haley Glover as the new director of UpSkill America, a critical initiative of the Institute’s Economic Opportunities Program (EOP). In this role, she will lead and grow the movement promoting employer training and advancement practices to expand opportunity for America’s workers and allow our economy and communities to thrive.

Haley comes to the Institute from Amazon’s Career Choice team, where she supported college opportunities for Amazon Associates. She previously served as strategy director at Lumina Foundation, where she led efforts to coordinate states to support student success and reduce racial disparities in credential attainment, along with administering the foundation’s Racial Justice and Equity Fund. She also led the foundation’s longstanding work measuring the return on investment of employer-supported education programs.

“We are thrilled Haley Glover will be bringing her considerable talents, experience, and passion for expanding economic opportunity to the work of leading UpSkill America,” said Maureen Conway, vice president at the Aspen Institute and executive director of the Economic Opportunities Program. “Haley has an incredible record of accomplishment and is the right leader for UpSkill as it enters its next phase of work to improve employer engagement, worker advancement, and job quality for America’s workers.”

Started in 2015, Upskill America’s mission is to recognize employers that invest in their frontline workers; promote the adoption of policies and practices used by employers to educate, train and develop frontline workers; and highlight effective local and regional workforce development partnerships and how they educate, train and develop individuals for success in the workplace. The initiative promotes employer funded training and advancement practices to help workers progress in their careers and move into better-paying jobs.

“I am excited to join the Economic Opportunities Program at the Aspen Institute as director of Upskill America,” said Haley. “I’ve worked with the Aspen Institute team for years, and I couldn’t be prouder to take the reins of this great initiative, which has already made tremendous strides encouraging and supporting employers to expand education and opportunities for workers.”
