New York, January 11, 2013 –– The Partners for a New Beginning (PNB) Secretariat at the Aspen Institute is leading a delegation of North African investors to the US from January 12th–19th. The delegation of 20 investors will meet with Morgan Stanley, Soros Fund Management, Rockefeller Foundation, TechWadi, the Arab Bankers Association of North America, and others in an effort to give delegates a better understanding of effective models for private equity, venture capital, and angel investment in the areas of IT, renewable energy, turnaround/buyout, early stage, and real estate.
Kris Balderston, the US Secretary of State’s Special Representative for Global Partnerships, will moderate a panel discussion in New York on impact investing. His involvement symbolizes the continued support of the US State Department for Partners for a New Beginning.
The delegates are comprised of angel, venture capital, and private equity investors from Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. It is being organized through PNB’s North African Partnership for Economic Opportunity (PNB-NAPEO).

The delegation will also meet with several business incubators, such as General Assembly in New York and Plug and Play in California.
Delegates include individuals with a broad range of interest, expertise, and knowledge in private equity, venture capital, and angel investing who will lay the groundwork for an effective, comprehensive regional network of investors.
Participants will meet with key individuals in the financial services industry, including successful venture capitalists, angel investors, and industry association representatives. Their meetings will connect and encourage dialogue among individuals engaged in these targeted professions.
PNB-NAPEO will co-host a presentation on best practices for angel investing with Golden Seeds, New York Angels, and the Harvard Business School Alumni Angel Association.
Delegates from the Maghreb Region are established and emerging private equity and venture capital professionals and potential angel investors. Delegates from each Maghreb country were chosen in conjunction with PNB-NAPEO local chapters where one exists, the US Department of State’s Economic Bureau, and the PNB Secretariat.
