UpSkill America is an employer-led movement to expand opportunity for America’s workers and allow our economy and communities to thrive. As part of our mission to advance the upskilling movement, we are pleased to share the following news from one of our partners.
Tyson Foods announced it is launching Upward Pathways, “an in-plant career development program that provides frontline team members with job skills training and workforce certifications at no cost.” According to the announcement,
Completion of Upward Pathways curriculum will culminate in a Tyson-branded credential that recognizes the skills gained by team members and signals readiness for advancement within the company. Industry recognized workforce certifications focusing on safety training and other core curriculum will also be offered. Additional areas of focus include digital fluency and soft skills training, such as time management and leadership skills.
Upward Pathways adds to Tyson’s existing lineup of upskilling programs, including Upward Academy, which helps employees develop “general life-skills such as English as a Second Language, citizenship, high school completion, digital and financial literacy.” Click here to read more.
We’re pleased to see companies like Tyson Foods continue to advance the upskilling movement even during this challenging time. As we noted before the start of the pandemic, downturns are a crucial time to invest in upskilling. We hope employers continue to take this message to heart.
