Alex is currently the Owner of Fruitful LLC, a food and health consulting business focused on the cross-section of communications, public insights, policy, and strategy development. Her clients represent both the public and private sector such as The Washington Regional Food Funders and The Root Cause Coalition to the International Food Information Council (IFIC) and Food & Society at the Aspen Institute.
Prior to starting Fruitful, Alex was the Vice President, Research & Partnerships at IFIC. She has also led AARP Foundation food insecurity and hunger research and was previously a Vice President at Weber Shandwick. Alex also led the USDA Foods Communications Initiative within USDA’s Food Distribution Division and has served as the Project Manager for the Kids’ Safe and Healthful Foods Program at the Pew Charitable Trusts. She has served as the Chair of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior’s Advisory Committee on Public Policy and Healthy Aging Division and as a commissioner on the D.C. Mayor’s Commission for Food and Nutrition as well as on the D.C. Mayor’s Commission for Healthy Schools. Alex graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University and received her Master’s in Public Administration and PhD in Nutrition, also from Cornell.
