In his current position as Center Coordinator, Baltazar Hernandez supports the Center on the Future of War in the ASU School of Politics and Global Studies. The Center on the Future of War links Arizona State University with New America, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank and connects ASU faculty with policymakers and national media, organizes research projects, and designs innovative educational programming. Previously, he was a Research Associate Intern at the Congressional Research Service’s Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Trade Division. He developed his Russian language skills through a 2017 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship in Vladimir, Russia. He currently serves as an Alumni Ambassador for the Critical Language Scholarship Program and is a strong advocate for international education. He completed the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute Fellowship Program at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University where he conducted research on Latin American Drug Control Policy. Baltazar is interested in domestic and international affairs and is engaged on the topics of global migration, labor and the economy, U.S.-Russia relations, and national security. He graduated from Arizona State University’s School of Public Affairs in 2016 and is currently pursuing a certification in Applied Business Data Analytics through the W.P. Carey School of Business. In the future, he wants to attend graduate school for public policy with a concentration in data analysis. He wants to leverage the advent of big data technologies to promote data-driven decision-making by United States policymakers. Selected to participate in the 2018 Aspen Security Forum.
