As Vice President of Technology, Barry is the senior IT executive for the Institute and he provides strategy and vision for the evolution of the Institute’s technology services. This ranges from back office systems; to international network operations; to conference and guest technologies.
Barry came to the Institute from the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department. There he spent 7 years as their Chief Information Officer. During his tenure, he led the strategic evolution of MPDs information technology and led the rollout of key initiatives including advanced records management, body cameras, innovative data analysis and regional crime data sharing. He is credited with transforming their Information Technology capabilities and positioning MPD as a strategic leader within public safety for using advanced crime fighting technology capabilities.
Barry has also recently held IT executive roles at Avendra (a Marriott International spinoff) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
He is a native of Rockville, Maryland. Barry holds a BS in Information Technology from The University of Maryland and a MS in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
