Craig C. Martin serves as Chairman, Midwest and a member of the Executive Committee of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, an international law firm founded in New York with more than 750 attorneys in 12 offices around the world. Recognized nationally as a “courtroom to boardroom” lawyer, Mr. Martin regularly appears as lead counsel in high-profile cases and at trial, conducts board and management driven investigations in sensitive matters, and counsels boards, board committees and C-Suite executives on governance issues. As a trusted adviser, he also counsels influential families and public and privately held companies on a wide variety of strategic issues.
Mr. Martin serves on the boards of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Urban League of Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the University of Chicago Law School Advisory Council, and is the former Chairman of the Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. He is also a member of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and the Economic Club of Chicago.
Originally from Colorado, Mr. Martin received a JD from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. He received his BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Martin regularly teaches Advanced Trial Advocacy at the Harvard Law School, and frequently lectures on crisis management at the Stanford Directors College. Mr. Martin is also a member of the American Law Institute and numerous other legal organizations.
