Diana Williams is the Deputy Director for Mesa County Public Health in Grand Junction, Colorado. In her current position, she provides leadership and strategic direction in the implementation of programs and agency initiatives. After 15 years of working in public health, Williams advocates for system-level changes in recognition of the community’s responsibility to provide healthy, safe and livable places for all residents. Williams is the Public Health Accreditation (PHAB) Coordinator for the agency and led the process for the organization to become accredited in 2015. Mesa County Public Health was the second agency to receive accreditation status in Colorado. Williams is a past member of the School District Wellness Advisory Committee, which seeks to improve educational outcomes through a health-in-all-policies approach. She facilitates the Mesa County Community Service Block Grant Tri-Partite Committee on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. She is a graduate of the 2017 Regional Institute for Health & Environmental Leadership’s Advanced Leadership Training Program, and she has a Master of Public Health from Walden University.
Williams moved to Grand Junction in 2001 from Bogota, Colombia. She went from living in a progressive city of 8 million people to a small, rural setting. She has embraced the Colorado lifestyle and, together with her husband, is an outdoor enthusiast. In 2019, she and her husband joined an elite group of people who have climbed all of the 58 Colorado peaks over 14,000 feet. Selected to participate in the Aspen Institute ASCEND SOAR Fellowship.
