Diego Cortina Escalante is an associate at DRB Abogados. He obtained his law degree (JD) at Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México, in 2013 where he graduated with highest honors. Mr. Cortina obtained the CENEVAL Award for Performance Excellence – General Graduation Exam for the Bachelor in Law (Examen General para el Egreso de la Licenciatura de Derecho – EGEL), for achieving outstanding performance in all areas of the General Graduation Exam for the Bachelor of Law. Less than 120 law students nationwide obtained this distinction. Mr. Cortina acted as the student’s representative to the Technical Board of the School of Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C. for the term 2011-2012.
Mr. Cortina has been working in DRB Consultores Legales, S.C., a law firm based in Mexico City, since 2009, focusing his professional practice representing national and international companies in several acquisitions. He has also provided advisory services on matters related to corporate law, antitrust, financial Law, mergers and acquisitions and regulation preventing money laundering.
He has also focused his practice in the representation of issuers and underwriters in several public and private securities offerings, both national and international.
Mr. Cortina was elected for Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP 2016-2017 Foreign Temporary Associate program, focusing his practice in advising public and private companies in the issuance of securities, and foreign Countries in the issuance of debt (notes), under Rule 144 A and Regulation S of the US Securities Act, listing them in the Luxembourg, Singapore and/or Ireland Stock Exchange. Mr. Cortina also advised public and private companies in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) related matters. For such program only 10 attorneys worldwide were elected.
