Eddy Encinales (Washington, DC) is Opportunity Nation’s Special Projects Assistant. Eddy works closely to support the executive director in her daily operations on a variety of projects that involve all facets of running a national campaign. Eddy graduated from New York University in May of 2015 with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. Before joining Opportunity Nation, Eddy worked as an Administrative Assistant for Jewish Family Service, a community organization in her hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey; and as a Brand Representative for the New York Red Bulls. Eddy was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia and migrated to the United States with her family when she was ten years old. During her time at New York University, she worked with Colombian and Latino students as president of PorColombia and Social Chair of La Herencia Latina. This passion for Latinos and immigrants drove her to volunteer for Caring for Colombia and work as an intern at the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs in New York City. Eddy has also had experience in research by serving as a Research Assistant to a professor at NYU and working as an external intern for a think tank based out of Mexico City. Eddy is enthusiastic about traveling, reading, and watching the Colombian national soccer team and the New York Red Bulls. Selected to participate in Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program Conversation with Justice Sonia Sotomayor March 2017
