Jane Harman resigned from Congress in February 2011 to join the Woodrow Wilson Center as its first female Director, President and CEO. Congresswoman Harman represented the aerospace center of California during nine terms in Congress, where she served on all the major security committees and has made numerous Congressional fact-finding missions to hotspots including North Korea, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay. Recognized as a national expert on security and public policy issues, Congresswoman Harman received the Defense Department Medal for Distinguished Service, the CIA Seal Medal, the CIA Director’s Award and the National Intelligence Distinguished Public Service Medal. She is a member of the Defense Policy Board and serves on the board of Iridium. A trustee of the Aspen Institute and the University of Southern California, she is a member of the Aspen Strategy Group.
