Jarquez Washington is a senior student athlete at Barton High School in Barton-Lexa, Arkansas. He plans to attend college to study architecture and physical education. Jarquez desires contribute significantly to his community in hopes of making the United States a better place. He feels like the future is more than just “held in the hands” of youth, but that young people need to take greater action to lead as well as involve more and more young people in making their communities better. He wants to build places in his community where young people will recognize their impact and see him as a role model for how they can join a continuous cycle of youth engagement. Ultimately, Jarquez wants to be a coach to teach players valuable lessons that they can apply in their lives, so they will also want to contribute to positive change.
