Jonathan Melgaard is a Program Manager with the Aspen Ideas Festival and the Aspen Institute’s Public Programs, previously working with the Institute’s Society of Fellows team. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial and Nonprofit Management from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where he also competed as a NCAA Division I diver. He also holds an Associates of Applied Sciences in Digital Media Production from the Isaacson School of New Media at Colorado Mountain College. Prior to joining the Institute, Jon served as a Fellow at a private family foundation in Fargo, North Dakota where he managed one of the nation’s largest youth grantmaking programs and worked as the Entrepreneur in Residence for Fargo-based philanthropist and current Governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgum. His proudest professional contributions include producing the Aspen Institute’s Leonardo da Vinci and Bauhaus celebrations, along with bringing an on-the-road model of Aspen Ideas back to Fargo, North Dakota in 2019. As an avid learner, hiker, skier, and traveler, Jon loves embracing the mind-body-spirit ethos that the Institute was built on.
