Lucia Seed is a Career Center System Manager for Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC). DESC is the fiscal and administrative agent designated by the Mayor’s Workforce Development Board (MWDB) to manage the federal, state and local workforce development funding streams and programs. DESC oversees the Detroit Michigan Works! One-Stop Service Centers and contracts with qualified entities to provide workforce development services to job seekers and employers. Locally, the Michigan Works! One-Stop Service Centers are branded as Detroit at Work Career Centers. Seed manages four of the eight Detroit At Work Career Centers. She provides technical assistance and support to service providers, while managing their performance and compliance with programmatic policies. She also facilitates the identification and implementation of new practices and resources that benefit job seekers. Previously, Lucia was the Program Coordinator with SER Metro-Detroit, where she managed both the Center for Working Families and Bridges to Career Opportunities programs. These programs integrated the following services: career development and placement, financial literacy, credit-building, access to community resources, and apprenticeship readiness. She is certified by NeighboorWorks America as a Home Counseling professional. She also has held positions in communications and marketing since 2003. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Wayne State University.
Lucia Seed is a member of the Detroit Workforce Leadership Academy Class of 2020, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
