Luis N. Alvarado

Luis is a Research Intern for the Religion & Society Program at the Aspen Institute. In this role, he works under the direction of the Associate Director on research interests in religion and philanthropy, particularly the underestimated role of faith-inspired nonprofits and foundations in the public sphere.

Luis joins the Religion & Society Program through The Martin Marty Center for the Public Understanding of Religion at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is earning his Master of Arts in Divinity at the University of Chicago Divinity School. At UChicago, Luis studies the philosophy of religions and theology. Given his political science background, he cares deeply about how religious leaders and practitioners of varied traditions can both find a home and support the values of public and political life.

Beyond his studies, Luis enjoys playing baseball, reading anything and everything on urban design, and having long conversation-filled dinners with family and friends.
