Mai T. Dang is project manager for Urban Strategies, Inc. where she manages the Jobs Plus Program and services at three sites in New Orleans: Bienville Basin, Harmony Oaks, and Marrero Commons. Mai provides staff supervision, coordinates supportive services, and develops and implements data-driven strategies to assist families in thriving and self-sustaining communities. Mai believes community empowerment and placed-based investments are keys to creating thriving communities and neighborhoods. Prior to joining Urban Strategies, Mai worked in affordable housing development and supported regional efforts around neighborhood transformation initiatives with The Community Builders Inc. Mai serves on the board of directors and previously worked as a community organizer for the MQVN Community Development Corporation in New Orleans, Lousiana. In that role, she focused on civic engagement and leadership development to advocate for social economic justice and culturally competent long-term, sustainable development for the Village de’Lest community in New Orleans East. Mai holds a bachelor’s degree in women’s studies from The George Washington University and a master’s degree in city planning with a focus on Housing and community economic development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mai Dang is a member of the New Orleans Workforce Leadership Academy, Class of 2019, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
