Maurice C. Baird is Program Coordinator for NOLA Youth Works. NOLA Youth Works is the City of New Orleans Mayors’ summer employment program. NWY employs over 800 youth ages 16 to 21 for five weeks during the summer. Youth in the program work for various City departments, Army Corps of Engineers, USDA, and other private employers. Maurice previously worked as chief of staff for a New Orleans City Council member for six years. He also has over 25 years of workforce development experience with the City of New Orleans, LA Technical College System – Region 1 and Southern University at New Orleans. Maurice received his bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in political science/public administration.

Maurice Baird is a member of the New Orleans Workforce Leadership Academy, Class of 2019, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.

The Workforce Leadership Academies are part of the Economic Opportunity Fellows Network, a network of leadership and fellowship programs run by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program.
