Mumbi joins the Executive Leadership Seminars program as the Seminars Program and Experience Manager. Directly prior to joining The Aspen Institute, she worked for the Council on Social Work Education, a member and accreditation association for social work education programs.
Mumbi received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Furman University and completed a dual degree Masters program in Public Health and Social Work from the University of Georgia. Mumbi provided clinical services for children, adolescents, and families before finding herself in higher education programming. Mumbi’s experience in higher education includes diversity initiatives, recruitment, retention, career preparation, and leadership development for faculty and students. Mumbi has experience coordinating the development of curricular guides and educational resources for social work educators and has lead continuing education programming for social worker practitioners.
Mumbi is proud of her Angolan and Kenyan heritage and was raised in Athens, Georgia. She enjoys memes, good coffee, traveling, and performing in musicals.
