Nick joined the Aspen Institute as communications intern for the Economics Opportunities Program in March 2019. Nick is currently finishing his last semester at the University of Maryland, where he is working toward his master’s degree in urban, regional, and community Planning. Previously, Nick worked for the Maryland Department of Human Services in its strategic planning department, where he helped create and build long-range program planning for a wide range of issues, including workforce development and aging out of foster care projects. Prior to moving to Maryland in 2017, Nick completed a yearlong apprenticeship for the LGBTQ nonprofit Freedom for All Americans, where he learned how to manage and run statewide nondiscrimination campaigns. He also spent several years managing and serving tables at high-end restaurants in San Diego. Nick holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and hospitality management from East Carolina University.
