Sam Garzillo (she/her/hers) is a recent graduate of American University with a BA in Law & Society. During her undergraduate career, she was deeply involved with the Roosevelt Institute, notably as president and PR director of American’s chapter and as regional coordinator and new chapters coordinator of the Mid-Atlantic. She was also an intern with Local Progress at the Center for Popular Democracy, U.S. PIRG, and ReThink Media, as well as a writer for an intersectional feminist publication.
Beyond elevating young people’s place in policy, politics, and their communities, Sam is interested in the school-to-prison pipeline, reproductive care, criminal justice reform, and multiracial identity and representation, among a litany of other issues. She has played the violin for seventeen years, is a voracious consumer of non-fiction (send recommendations) and podcasts (also send recommendations), and loves exploring for new places in D.C.
