Robert Taj Moore

Director, Aspen US Cybersecurity Group, Aspen Digital

Director of the Aspen US Cybersecurity Group, an initiative of Aspen Digital, Taj recently worked as an associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP, where he advised companies on how to prepare for and respond to cyberattacks executed by cyber criminals and other adversaries; helped entities build data privacy programs; and provided counsel to organizations subject to government investigations.

He previously worked at a Y-Combinator-backed cybersecurity startup and served as assistant counsel in the Office of New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy, where his legislative portfolio covered homeland security, technology policy, military and veterans’ affairs, and banking and insurance. Taj also clerked for Chief Justice Stuart J. Rabner of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Taj also served as a contributor to Lawfare and as a Scoville Fellow at the Stimson Center, where his research focused on Iran’s nuclear program and U.S. defense strategy. He is co-author of “Balancing Privacy and Public Safety in the Post-Snowden Era,” published in the Cambridge Handbook of Surveillance Law (Cambridge University Press, 2017). He received a J.D. from Harvard and an A.B. from Brown.
