Aspen Cybersecurity Workforce Coalition

The Aspen Cybersecurity Workforce Coalition comprises a growing set of employers who are helping to transform how businesses hire and train cybersecurity workers. The mission: close the nation’s cybersecurity jobs gap by welcoming more underrepresented groups into the cybersecurity industry.

Defending cyberspace against computer criminals and foreign adversaries requires a robust pipeline of cybersecurity talent. Yet today, the United States alone has over 500,000 unfilled cybersecurity positions, leaving many organizations poorly defended against malicious attackers. A primary driver of this cybersecurity jobs gap is outdated recruitment, hiring, and training practices that artificially limit the potential pool of cybersecurity talent. In November 2018, the Aspen Cybersecurity Group released its Principles for Growing and Sustaining the Nation’s Cybersecurity Workforce, which outlines practical steps organizations can take to expand their talent aperture, allowing them to fill open positions more quickly with an increasingly diverse set of cybersecurity workers. Members of the Aspen Cybersecurity Workforce Coalition publicly commit to explore, implement, and share these transformative practices for recruiting, hiring, and training a capable cybersecurity workforce.
