The Aspen Education Policy Leadership Program is a transformative two-year journey designed for very early career professionals who are passionate about shaping the future of education policy and leadership through a cross-partisan lens. This program cultivates the next generation of visionary leaders committed to fostering equitable and inclusive educational environments for all students.

Program Highlights

Policy Engagement

  • Dive into hands-on policy analysis and development, collaborating closely with Aspen Education’s network of policymakers, educators, and thought leaders.
  • Participate in policy meetings, contribute to policy briefs, and assist in organizing cross-partisan public events to foster dialogue and consensus

Leadership Development

  • Engage in a robust leadership curriculum tailored to early career professionals.
  • Benefit from mentorship opportunities with seasoned leaders, attend leadership training workshops, and create a personal development plan to prepare for future roles in educational leadership and policy.

Research and Academic Preparation
Undertake independent research projects guided by Aspen Education leaders, culminating in one or more of the following:

  • Research Presentation: Present your findings at a national education conference.
  • Publication: Write and publish a commentary or op-ed on education policy.
  • Capstone Event: Showcase your insights and collaboration skills through panels, discussions, or workshops, providing networking opportunities.

Networking and Professional Development

  • Attend national conferences and participate in Aspen Institute’s network events
  • Receive tailored career guidance to prepare for competitive graduate programs.

  • Cross-partisan Collaboration: Navigate and promote collaboration across political and ideological divides, fostering solutions that benefit all students.
  • Supporting Senior Leaders: Work effectively with senior leaders, assisting with initiatives, organizing events, and implementing policy solutions.

Outcome

Upon completion, participants will emerge as informed, skilled, and motivated leaders, ready to enter education policy work and/or graduate school with a rich understanding of education policy’s complexities and a commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive educational systems. This program is a transformational experience for young professionals to become influential voices in education reform and policy.
