Co-Chairs:
Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd, Chairman Emeritus of Aspen Institute India

Gina McCarthy, Former White House National Climate Advisor

William Reilly, Former Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Over the past 12 years, our co-chairs have assembled a high-level group of about twenty-five experts from government, NGOs, academia, and the business community in the U.S. and India to build on initiatives originally launched in the energy MOU signed between President Obama and Prime Minister Singh at the 2009 summit in Washington and to help define a constructive bilateral agenda on critical energy and climate concerns. The India-U.S. Track II Dialogue on Energy and Climate Change is co-chaired by Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited and Chairman Emeritus of Aspen Institute India, Gina McCarthy, Former White House National Climate Advisor, and William Reilly, Former Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency. This Dialogue is managed by the Aspen Institute and Ananta Aspen Centre in India.

The co-chairs and participants of the Track II Dialogue uniformly agree that a constructive, civil-society dialogue focused on climate change and clean energy is needed to strengthen and enhance the strategic partnership between India and the U.S. The Dialogue is dedicated to positively impacting how the two countries interact bilaterally while also demonstrating genuine leadership multi-laterally on climate change.

Dialogue participants meet in person regularly – at least once per year – to track the rapidly evolving national energy and climate positions and to explore new opportunities for collaboration that will yield diplomatic and economic gains in both nations. The meetings generally include important public panel discussions featuring dialogue participants while also affording participants the opportunity to meet and exchange views with political leaders from both nations.
