Society of Fellows Winter Symposium: America of the Future: Changing Demographics and Immigration

Moderated by Monica Lozano, chair, Aspen Institute Latinos and Society policy program, and Ali Noorani, Executive Director, National Immigration Forum.

This timely symposium will delve deeply into the trends, policy, and implications of charting America of the future. Over the course of three charged mornings, participants will explore the history, trends, and policies of U.S. immigration; the tension of state and federal actions; current and projected U.S. demographics, including the implications of globalization and integration; and citizenship and American identity. What are the implications for US competitiveness? How will the new demographics affect the political process? From language and assimilation to national identity, participants and moderators will explore the complexities and nuances of this timely issue. The roundtable format will feature readings, lecture, Q&A, and moderated discussion.
