In the United States today, nearly forty percent of all children -- more than 30.5 million children -- live in low-income families. Those families led by women are significantly more likely to live in low-income households, with two-thirds living in poverty. Ascend will build a network of leaders and accelerate policies and community solutions that are proven to increase the economic security and educational achievement of vulnerable families, particularly those headed by women. We will leverage the research that demonstrates the impact of investing in women and the positive results on families and communities.
