Just as he was preparing to leave office, former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg accepted the fourth annual Preston Robert Tisch Award in Civic Leadership for his service to the city’s residents. Bloomberg received the award from Institute Trustee Laurie Tisch, who along with her siblings Jonathan and Steve, created it in 2009 to honor their father. The Tisch Award is an honor that the Aspen Institute gives to public service leaders who are making major strides to improve their communities. Past honorees include jazz phenomenon and educator Wynton Marsalis, tennis legend and philanthropist Billie Jean King, and restaurateur Danny Meyer.
