FCC Chairman Speaks at Communications Policy Roundtable

August 25, 2016  • Communications and Society Program

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s keynote remarks at the Communications and Society Program’s Conference on Communications Policy offered important insights into what lies ahead for the network revolution and the FCC, and also highlighted many of the agency’s recent successes.

Wheeler praised the current Commission’s work in expanding the E-Rate program, enacting new Open Internet rules, and enhancing cyber security initiatives, among other accomplishments. When faced with comparable new communications challenges, Wheeler urged future FCC’s to apply, as he did, the “timeless principles” of the Network Compact–access, interconnection, consumer protection, public safety and national security–to find solutions.
