Knight Foundations asks “What Does the Civic Tech Landscape Look Like?”

December 5, 2013  • Communications and Society Program

Congratulations to the Knight Foundation for the release of a new report, “The Emergence of Civic Tech: Investments in a Growing Field,” which provides an understanding of the current state of private capital and foundation investments in civic technology. The report looks at funding distribution, types of capital, investor networks, etc. to help shape the field, and demonstrate ways philanthropy can support tools for democracy. It also includes interactive data visualizations to analyze the civic technology landscape. The Knight Foundation has worked with the Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program on a number of projects, including our open government (FOCAS) series, and we’re happy to see this work continued with their report. Read it here!
