Partners Urge Congress to Provide BLS with Funding for Nonprofit Workforce Data

PSI was glad to join with our partners and urge Congress to provide the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) with the funding necessary to include nonprofit workforce data in its Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages. This joint letter to Congressional leaders builds on PSI’s efforts over the past decade, including successfully advocating for the release of nonprofit workforce data every five years by BLS.

Yet other sectors of our economy that are far smaller receive this information quarterly. Nonprofits — as the nation’s third-largest private employer — similarly need tools to track workforce changes and address economic challenges.

Signatories to the comments include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Aspen Institute’s Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation, the Council on Foundations, Independent Sector, the National Council of Nonprofits, and the United Philanthropy Forum.
