2018 Aspen-Nicholas Water Forum: One Watershed – Reaching Scale Through Regional Cooperation & Integration

The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program in partnership with the Nicholas Institute at Duke University held the 2018 Aspen-Nicholas Water Forum: One Watershed – Reaching Scale Through Regional Cooperation & Integration on Wednesday, May 30 – Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Aspen, Colorado. This invitation-only forum invites ~50 executives, entrepreneurs, policy makers and thought leaders to Aspen for an intentional, cross-sector and forward-thinking dialogue focused on transformative changes needed in domestic water resource management. The roundtable format encourages dialogue between participants, rather than question and answer or just listening to speakers. While each session is introduced by brief presentations, much of the time is reserved for open discussion between participants. The forum is enhanced by an informal atmosphere and a not-for-attribution rule that encourages creative thinking, dissenting opinions, and candid dialogue.

The 2018 Aspen-Nicholas Water Forum – One Watershed: Reaching Scale Through Regional Cooperation & Integration explored how merging, integrative and cooperative partnerships can be used to change the scale of water management and address chronic and emerging water challenges. The Forum will brought leaders from across the water community to explore types of integrative approaches, the tradeoffs involved, and the opportunities that can emerge. Through our well-developed, moderated discussion format, multiple perspectives and opinions can surface and will be deliberated in a closed-door, off-the-record, casual setting.
