Aspen is a place for leaders to lift their sights above the possessions which possess them. To confront their own nature as human beings, to regain control over their own humanity by becoming more self-aware, more self-correcting, and hence more self-fulfilling.
In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Center for Native American Youth will release its 2019 State of Native Youth Report with a youth panel event at The Aspen Institute on November 20, 2019 from 12:00-1:30 PM. Featured speakers will share their insights about the policy and issues that impact them as well as work being done to address these needs. The theme of this year’s report is Native Youth Count— highlighting the importance of Native youth civic engagement and belonging.
Featured speakers and panelists will include:
Representative Deb Haaland, NM-1 (invited)
Elliot Gerson, Executive Vice President Policy & Public Programs, International Partners, The Aspen Institute
Senator Byron Dorgan (ret.), Founder & Chair Center for Native American Youth
Elizabeth Morgan, 2019 Creative Native Call for Art Winner
