SOF Bay Area Discussion Reception: Confronting our Nation’s Opioid Crisis
Join us for a Society of Fellows Discussion Reception with an inside view of the opioid crisis by former Clinton White House staffer Ryan Hampton, former opioid user and current recovery advocate and Dan Ciccarone, MD, MPH is Professor of Family & Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco . Hampton will discuss his recently published book, American Fix: Inside the Opioid Addiction Crisis – and How to End It, address his personal struggle with addiction, outline the challenges that the recovery movement currently faces, and offer a concrete, comprehensive plan of action towards making America’s addiction crisis a thing of the past.
Ciccarone will discuss his NIH-funded research project which sends researches into communities stricken by opioid abuse to gather statistical data and into the field to get to know and truly understand the behavior of opioid users.
