About this event

Join landscape architect Ann Mullins, in a tour of the Bauhaus-inspired, Bayer-designed Aspen Institute Campus. Beginning in 1945, Bayer worked with Walter Paepcke to fulfill Paepcke’s vision of ‘mind, body, spirit’ on 40 acres of ranchland adjacent to the historic city of Aspen. After Bayer developed the Campus Master Plan, his first earthworks and land art pieces were constructed in 1955, precursors to the robust earthworks movement of the 1960s & ’70s. His last earthworks on campus were completed in the late 70s and foretold the environmental art of the 80s. Bayer’s campus is a Bauhaus masterpiece that creates a unified environment of environmental stewardship, inspiring design, and placemaking.
