Exchange 2.0: The Vital Cross-Section between New Media and Traditional Exchange

Partners for a New Beginning (PNB), Soliya, the US Institute for Peace, the Institute of International Education and the UN Alliance of Civilizations cordially invite you to attend this lunchtime workshop.

We will discuss and advance the concept of Exchange 2.0 – the use of new media and communications technologies to expand, extend, and deepen international cross-cultural exchanges. International exchange programs are an increasingly important means of ensuring that today’s young people have the skills they need to succeed in an interdependent world.

Exchange 2.0 programs have the potential to make international cross-cultural exchanges a part of the higher education curriculum for hundreds of thousands of young people in the United States and around the world. These programs can also inspire greater participation in traditional exchange experiences and expand the pre and post-programming available to exchange participants. This initial meeting will serve as an opportunity for leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors to brainstorm about how to develop effective Exchange 2.0 programs and implement such programs at a large scale. Some successful models of web-based cross-cultural exchange will also be presented and discussed during the session.

Join us for what should be an informative and productive conversation with our partners on this initiative.
