The Roundtable on Community Change will convene its signature program, the Leadership Seminar on Racial Equity, on September 12-16th in Aspen, Colorado. Three leaders in the racial equity and social justice fields will moderate the dialogue: Patricia Williams (Professor of Law, Columbia University), Theodore Shaw (Professor of Law, Columbia University, and former President of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund), and Alice O’Connor (Professor of History, University of California, Santa Barbara). Designed for executives in leadership positions in the public, private, and non-profit sectors the seminars focus on the institutional and structural dimensions of racial dynamics. Participants examine the ways in which history, policies, practices and contemporary culture contribute to racial inequalities and then develop language, strategies, tools and a work plan for addressing race in their home environment. After the seminar, Roundtable staff wil l provide on-going support to alumni efforts around racial equity through its Peer Learning Forum (PLF).
