Meet AWF Writer in Residence Brad Watson

Brad Watson is an award-winning writer and the author of three books of fiction. His first book, “Last Days of the Dog-Men” (1996), won the Sue Kauffman prize and his second book, “The Heaven of Mercury” (2002), won awards from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters, the Southern Book Critics Circle, and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Watson’s latest collection of stories, “Aliens in the Prime of Their Lives” (2010), won the MIAL prize, and was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Brad’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, Granta, and the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories, among others. Originally from Meridian, Mississippi, he lives in Laramie and teaches at the University of Wyoming.
