Aspen European Strategy Group

On June 6, 2017, The Aspen Strategy Group met with the Aspen European Strategy Group for their inaugural roundtable in Washington, D.C.to examine a number of critical issues regarding the future of the transatlantic alliance. The newly formed AESG is co-chaired by Mircea Geoana, Rüdiger Lentz and Ivan Hodac. Aspen Strategy Group Director Nicholas Burns and French Ambassador to the U.S. Gérard Araud offered introductory remarks to open the roundtable. They both emphasized the importance of sustaining a strong transatlantic relationship, especially in light of the 70th anniversary of the Marshall Plan. The sessions included a number of foreign policy experts from both sides of the Atlantic.
