The first Preston Robert Tisch Award in Civic Leadership was presented to jazz musician, educator and advocate for the arts Wynton Marsalis, on November 29th, 2010 at the Kaye Playhouse of Hunter College in New York City. The annual award is funded by the family of the late Preston Robert Tisch to carry on his legacy of public service and philanthropy. Mr. Marsalis was honored for his work in bringing music and music education programs to young people as well as for his efforts to help New Orleans recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina. The program featured a conversation between Mr. Marsalis and Aspen Institute president Walter Isaacson.
