Secretary Albright Leads Discussion on PNB in Turkey

On December 13, 2010, PNB held its first international meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. Secretary Albright spoke on behalf of PNB, and detailed the goals and ambitions of the initiative. The event was hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), with the support of both The Coca-Cola Company and Intel Turkey.

Other organizations and companies present included TUSIAD, KAGIDER, Sabanci University, Gaziantep University, TEPAV, TUSKON, ENDEAVOR Turkey, TOG, TOBB University, Google Turkey, Cisco, Youth for Habitat Association, the US Consulate and the Albright Stonebridge Group. Toni Verstandig and Mickey Bergman represented the Aspen Institute PNB Secretariat.

The objective of the meeting was to engage local leaders in establishing a locally-owned and locally-driven PNB chapter in Turkey. Meeting participants offered advice on the best way to advance PNB in Turkey and gave numerous suggestions on potential focus areas in the region. In the near future, PNB will finalize the structure and membership of the local chapter and establish communication routines between the local chapter, the Secretariat and the PNB Steering Committee and Members.
