She has curated more than 100 exhibitions during her career. She also successfully spearheaded a capital campaign to fund the museum’s new building, designed by Shigeru Ban, the 2014 Pritzker Prize winner for architecture, and recently announced winner of the American Institute of Architects 2017 Institute Honors Award for Architecture. She raised over $100 million for the capital campaign and is one of only three female museum directors to do so. Prior to this, she served as the Chair of the Art Curatorial Department at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. She was also the Assistant Curator of 20th Century Art at the Jewish Museum in New York.
