Shakespeare Comes Alive: What the high drama in two of Shakespeare’s works teaches us about ourselves and our world in 2014

This seminar convenes high school students from the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, for a forum in which students can gain insight into timely and important topics. Participants are moved to voice their own opinions, opening a lively dialogue in which diverse viewpoints are shared and valued. Participants will explore the vast lessons we can learn from Shakespeare’s Henry V and Romeo & Juliet over the course of three half days.

Teens will watch exciting movie scenes and engage in a lively dialogue with expert moderators and Shakespeare experts Ken and Carol Adelman, about one of England’s most beloved and greatest kings, young King Henry Vth, and will watch scenes from one of Shakespeare’s most famous love stories, Romeo & Juliet and will discuss the tragedy and underpinnings of gang warfare and the plight of two teenagers in love.
