The Next Move: Preparing Boards for the New Normal

Even as the economy starts to reopen and as inevitable as a “new normal” seems, neither business nor society have time to design it in advance. A shift away from a shareholder-focused operating model was under way before the pandemic, with mainstream voices like the Business Roundtable and World Economic Forum acknowledging long simmering concerns about inequality, climate change, and the social impact of corporate actions.

Now, business’s new normal will be created in real time, through the choices made by managers, workers, consumers, investors, and communities. Corporate boardrooms will play a pivotal role in these decisions. What should corporate boards be doing now to adapt to the still unknown business realities and societal expectations of a post-COVID world?

Join Tierney Remick (Vice Chairman, CEO & Board Services at Korn Ferry), Sabastian Niles (Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz), Lisa Skeete Tatum (Founder/CEO at Landit & Corporate Director) and Douglas Chia (President, Soundboard Governance) for a conversation on how boards might respond to this moment. What is the next move boards should make to prepare for the post-COVID world?

Hosted by the Aspen Institute’s Business & Society Program and moderated by Miguel Padro.
