Warren Buffett and America’s Leading Philanthropist-Investors

[[nid:19250]]

The Aspen Institute travelled with over 50 Aspen Trustees, members of the Society of Fellows, and supporters to Omaha, Nebraska, for a unique Aspen Across America visit. The program consisted of two parts, an afternoon panel and an evening dinner. The panel addressed the subject “50 Years After Head Start: Making an Investment in Early Childhood Education in America,” and was hosted at the University of Nebraska in partnership with the Buffett Early Childhood Institute. Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and world renowned scholar Dr. Samuel Meisels joined Jackie Bezos, George Kaiser, and JB Pritzker — three of the nation’s leading philanthropists in the field of early childhood development—- in a conversation moderated by Walter Isaacson for an audience of over 500 educators and community members.

After the panel, Aspen guests gathered for an intimate dinner with Warren Buffett, whose history of sage investment is matched only by his philanthropy and humility. During the course of dinner, David Rubenstein, founder of the Carlyle Group, interviewed Mr. Buffett on “Life Lessons: Investments of a Lifetime,” which was followed by an open Q&A with the room.
