Writers in Residence: Helen Schulman & Bruce Handy

HELEN SCHULMAN is the author of the novels This Beautiful Life (an International Bestseller), A Day At The Beach, P.S., The Revisionist, and Out Of Time, and the short story collection Not A Free Show. She co-edited, along with Jill Bialosky, the anthology Wanting A Child. Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in such places as Vanity Fair, TIME, Vogue, GQ, the New York Times Book Review and the Paris Review. She is presently the Fiction Coordinator at The Writing Program at The New School where she is a tenured Professor of Writing.

BRUCE HANDY is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, where he was formerly deputy editor, and the author of a forthcoming book from Simon & Schuster about the pleasures of reading children’s literature as an adult. He has also worked as a writer-editor at TIME and Spy and contributed journalism, reviews, and humor pieces to the New York Times Magazine, the New York Times Book Review, New York, and The New Yorker, as well as other publications that don’t have New York in their titles. He has worked in television, including one season as a writer for Saturday Night Live. He graduated from Stanford University and currently lives in New York with his wife, Helen Schulman, and their two kids.
