A Degree Built For You

March 8, 2017  • Elizabeth Skinner

UpSkill America is an employer-led movement to expand opportunity for America’s workers and allow our economy and communities to thrive. As part of our mission to advance the upskilling movement, we are pleased to share the following news featuring one of our partners.

Chipotle recently partnered with Bellevue University and Guild Education to introduce a bachelor’s degree in business for employees. This program offers classes that fit into a busy restaurant schedule and is designed to help workers grow their career. Courses focus on real things that happen in the restaurant, such as people development, marketing, and our economic model. They also encourage teamwork and collaboration, so students will get the chance to share ideas with employees all around the country.

This online program offers the flexibility workers need to balance work, school, and life. “This degree is designed around a Chipotle employee’s schedule,” says Sam Worobec, Chipotle’s Director of Training. “That means the courses are broken down into a manageable time frame for someone working in our restaurants.” This degree is affordable, too. As part of Chipotle’s educational assistance program, participants will receive up to $5,250 a year in tuition assistance from Chipotle and be connected with a personal success coach from Guild Education to help them enroll in classes and apply for financial aid.
