The Aspen Ministers Forum mourns the passing of a cherished colleague and friend, former ASEAN Secretary-General and Thailand Minister of Foreign Affairs Surin Pitsuwan. Secretary-General Pitsuwan contributed regularly to the Aspen Ministers Forum, and his colleagues remember him for his warm personality and enthusiasm. We fondly recall his dedication to democracy, conflict resolution, and regional cooperation, as well as his efforts to support a new generation of foreign policy experts. We appreciate his many contributions to the international community, and extend our deepest sympathies to his family and to the Kingdom of Thailand.
