Upskilling in the News: Chili’s Adds 250 Slots to New Apprenticeship Program

April 5, 2018  • UpSkill America

UpSkill America is an employer-led movement to expand opportunity for America’s workers and allow our economy and communities to thrive. As part of our mission to advance the upskilling movement, we are pleased to share the following news from one of our partners.

Brinker International, the company behind Chili’s and Maggiano’s restaurants, has announced their commitment to enroll 250 apprentices into the Hospitality Sector Registered Apprenticeship program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and the American Hotel & Lodging Association. HSRA is the first-ever earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship program created for the nation’s restaurant, food service, and lodging industry. With 250 apprentices, Brinker has made the largest HSRA commitment in the nation, which will help their employees gain additional skills, management training, and opportunities to advance their careers and increase their incomes. We are delighted with Brinker’s decision and commend them for continuing their commitment to advance the upskilling movement in 2018.

🎶 I want my upskilling, upskilling, upskilling. I want my upskilling, upskilling, upskilling. 🎶 The company behind @Chilis & @Maggianos is joining a first-of-its-kind apprenticeship program for restaurant employees.

“This apprenticeship program will provide education and training opportunities to create a more defined career path for the millions of Americans who work in restaurants, foodservice and hospitality.”

“The restaurant industry is known for being a stop along the way in most people’s career, but our industry is in jeopardy if we don’t show Team Members a clear path to long-term growth.”
